TOP facilitates HSE consult during docking in Bulgaria
To ensure a safe docking of one of Boskalis vessels, TOP is asked to join the HSE preparations on site in Bulgaria. The hopper dredger The Seaway is planned for preventive maintenance and repairs. Main goal is to ensure that the safety standards that Boskalis requires for Yard projects are implemented on site.
TOP developped a procedure for Yard projects for
Boskalis to safeguard dockings.
The challenge with dockings is to coordinate the activities and
the communication between the yard repairteam, crew and
subcontractors. Clear working procedures, tasks &
responsibilities and an up-to-date planning of day-to-day
operations is not enough. Frequent meetings and constant
communication & feedback on safety matters must be
implemented.
Boskalis has developed a safety program to embed safety awareness as a company culture; NINA, No Incidents, No Accidents. TOP facilitates start-up meetings and communicates safety values & rules on site to embed the required safety culture during the docking.
