TOP Offshore facilitates HSE consult at docking in Cape Town
TOP Offshore facilitated a Safety Officer during the docking of the Waterway. TOP has developed a procedure for Boskalis to ensure safety and quality during dockings of their vessels.
During the preparations, TOP performed a yard inspection to check if the Yard can meet the safety & quality standard that Boskalis requires for all dockings. A risk assesment had been made and a project HSE plan has been drawn up to safeguard the safety during the repair. All HSE matters were thoroughly discussed with the superintendent and the management of Boskalis. A safety induction program was drawn up and implemented for the employees of the shipyard, the crew & the contractors. During these frequent induction meetings, all safety matters were discussed and reviewed and upcoming repair activities were planned and coordinated.
Boskalis gives high priority to their safety
program NINA, No Injuries No Accidents. This
program is enrolled to improve the safety awareness of all
employees and subcontractors in order to prevent injuries and
accidents.
The challenge during these dockings lies in dealing with different
safety cultures of the shipyard, subcontractors and Boskalis crew
and the differences in the safety awareness of their
employees.
TOP Offshore provides Safety Officers that have experience and knowledge in HSE matters . They give advise and supervise these dockings and stimulate others to give priority to Safety when working on Boskalis projects.
